British artist and architect William Morris played a key role in the founding of the Arts and Crafts movement and also had a significant influence on the socialist movement in Britain. In his artistic career he focused on interior design, creating a variety of wallpapers, carpets and wall decorations. His creative works are characterized by floral patterns that can be both intricate and simple. These stylish patterns give your walls a special splendor, whether on canvas or posters.
Famous for his stunning and distinctive designs, particularly in wallpaper and textiles, William Morris has left a lasting impression. Inspired by Morris' creative patterns, our poster collection features a selection of decorative, abstract shapes that have their origins in his famous wallpaper and fabric designs. A versatile British artist, designer and writer, Morris was a key figure in the Arts and Crafts movement in Britain. However, he is most remembered for his exquisite patterns in wallpaper and textiles.
Born on March 24, 1834 in Walthamstow, a suburb of London, William Morris made a name for himself when he founded the company Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co in 1861. This company, later known as Morris & Co, was founded alongside other artists such as Rossetti, Burne-Jones, Madox Brown and Webb. Her designs for fabrics and wallpapers are still produced today through a licensing agreement with the textile manufacturer Sanderson & Sons and are available, among others, in the renowned London department store Liberty. Morris died in 1896, but his legacy lives on in his designs and in our poster collection.
